        A woman drawing kolam in front of her house in connection with Pongal celebrations in the wee hours was relieved of her gold chain at Virugambakkam here.

        Police said Shyamala (28), wife of Raghunathan, a cinematographer, residing at Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Virugambakkam, was engaged in applying rangoli in front of her house when an intruder under the pretext of asking address suddenly snatched her eight-sovereign chain and escaped.

        Shyamala preferred a complaint with the Virugambakkam police, who are enquiring.

        Shop burgled  At Nesapakkam MGR Nagar, one Arivazhagan's petty shop was burgled last night by some miscreants who decamped with Rs 6,000 in cash.

        Arivazhagan lodged a complaint with MGR Nagar police, who are investigating.
