Ban on use of suncontrol stickers in TN soon

        A law to ban the use of suncontrol stickers on car windshields will soon be implemented, Minister for Transport K N Nehru has said.

        Participating in the first meeting of Tamilnadu Autorickshaw and Taxi Drivers Welfare Board, here Wednesday, the Minister said the rule is already in force in New Delhi and added, 'we are discussing with the Chief Minister in this regard.'

        'We have plans to implement the rule in the State within two-three months,' the Minister added.

        Speaking at the meeting, the Minister assured to look into the problems of autorickshaw and taxi drivers promptly.

        When his opinion was sought on the opposition's charge that bus fares had been increased indirectly, the Minister denied it.

        Referring to the ultra-modern air-conditioned buses in the city, which were flagged off by the Chief Minister, he said the cost of each bus was Rs 78 lakh and initially five buses would be operated on the following routes — 21G (Tambaram to Broadway, 19G (Broadway to Kovalam), 70 (Tambaram to Avadi) and Chennai Airport to Broadway. The minimum fare in these buses would be Rs 10 and five additional buses would be flagged off by Local Administration Minister M K Stalin at a function 17 September.
