Bharathiraja's clarion call

        More Tamil-speaking actors and actresses should be cast in Tamil cinema, says veteran director Bharathiraja.

        Speaking at a function organised to launch the audio of Thavam, produced by actor Arjun, in Chennai yesterday, he said, 'I share a good rapport with Arjun. We have worked together in Bommallattam

        On his part, director K Balachander heaped laurels on Arjun. He described him as an actor who can do justice to his roles.

        Veteran actor and Arun Vijay's father, Vijayakumar said, 'I am planning to produce a couple of films every year and hopefully I would be casting my son as hero'.

        Thanking Arjun, Arun Vijay said, 'I was surprised when Arjun urged me to play the lead role in his production venture.

        He guided and motivated me a lot. Director Sakthi Paramesh has given his best and the movie has come out really well'.

        A couple of songs set to tunes by D Imman were also screened on the occasion.

        Actors Sarath Kumar, Jeyam Ravi, Jeevan, Tamil Film Producer Council president Rama Narayanan, director K S Ravikumar were among others gathered on the occasion.

        Thavam features newcomers Arpita and Nandhana opposite Arun. The movie is set for release soon.
