DMDK men paint Pudukottai red

        Thousands of cadres of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam's (DMDK) have assembled here to participate in the convention to mark the start of its third year.

        The cadres have painted the town red as the party completed two years of existence. The party's founder leader Vijayakanth is likely to make important announcements with regard to the party's position on important issues besides giving away Rs 25 lakh worth assistance. Vijayakanth reached here this morning from Madurai. 'Captain' as he is fondly called by his cadres, came to Madurai by the 7'o clock flight of a private airlines from Chennai.

        He is staying at Satyam Hotel and the entire area is teeming with workers of the DMDK to have a glimpse of their leader. The convention is scheduled to start by 2.45 pm and end by 11.45 pm. Cultural programmes by art and literary wing will mark the start of a series of events slated for day.

        State and district functionaries of the party will address the gathering besides party's presidium chairman Panrutti Ramachandran, general secretary Ramuvasanthan, treasurer, Sundararajan, headquarters secretary Parthasarathy and propaganda secretary Chandrakumar. Party supremo Vijayakanth will address the meet after the speech of all the others.

        A mega dias has been erected on a 40- acre land in Pallathivayal on Pudukottai- Tiruchi highway for the public meeting and convention today.
