        A 57-year-old man was beaten to death by his son who was angry that his father had not taken steps to marry him off. The incident took place at Mangadu near here yesterday.

        Jaleel Mohammad, father of Qadir Mohideen (30), residing at Syed Sadiq Nagar, used to get into quarrels over the issue. Last night, Qadir picked up a quarrel with his father. Following this, a drunken Qadir picked up a wooden log and attacked his father. Jaleel Mohammad who sustained serious injuries was rushed to Government Kilpauk Hospital but he died on the way. Mangadu police have registered a case and are on the lookout for Qadir who is reported absconding.
