        A sum of Rs 2.5 lakh kept in an almirah in a house on East Coast Road was reported missing yesterday. Police are interrogating the neighbours in this connection.

        Desammal, a resident of Muthalamman Koil Street, had kept the money got after selling land in an almirah. She had locked it and kept the keys in a safe place.

        Yesterday, she asked her daughter Anushya to look after the house and went out. When she returned home in the evening, she found nothing amiss and opened the almirah only to find the cash missing, but the keys were in the same place where she had kept before leaving the house.

        Desammal enquired her daughter whether any person had came to house and she was told that none had come. Following this, she lodged a complaint with Neelangari Police and investigations are on.
