Is there a way out?

        Sir,

With reference observation of the Supreme Court that corrupt men should be hanged on lampposts. I wish to state that it expresses their pain and anguish on the rampant corruption prevailing in our country in anything and everything.

The political and bureaucratic establishments should take the observation in the right spirit and find out ways and means to reduce the menace, instead of attempting to wage a war against the Judiciary.

The significance of the SC's observation is that, it has come during the hearing of a case concerned with the (in)famous fodder scam, in which the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad is involved. When the CBI wanted to file an appeal against the acquittal of Lalu and Rabri in the disproportionate assets case, the Law Ministry refused to give permission and the same CBI was used by the Law Ministry to defreeze the London Bank accounts of the disgraced Italian fugitive Quattrocchi, facilitating him to escape to Italy with the booty.

Again the same CBI is being (mis)used to facilitate the escape of 'Q' from Argentina and for the permanent closure of the Bofors issue. The affidavit filed by the CBI in the Supreme Court on the Bofors issue, states that it is not bound to disclose its findings to SC and that the lack of evidence may result in making the extradition of 'Q' impossible. The CBI has again 'lied' by saying that there is no 'extradition treaty' with Argentina.

This abuse of CBI is in contrast to the statement of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that his government has given full freedom to CBI. It is sad and unfortunate that Manmohan has lost his goodwill and credibility, which he had gained in the last 30 years, in just three years, for the sake of his alien boss. The 'malady' of being Maino's man! What is wrong in the observation of the Supreme Court that corrupt people should be hanged on the lamppost?
