People's Union for Civil Liberties vice-president Sudha Ramalingam inaugurating  the International Women's Day celebration at Neyveli recently. NLC Chief vigilance officer, V Narayanan, director (personnel) P Babu Rao, director (power)  V Sethuraman, Dr P Dhanyakumari and past Lions district  governor Parimala Raju are present.

        Women should not misuse the Domestic Violence and Dowry Act for their own advantage, advocate Sudha Ramalingam has said.

        Speaking at the International Women's Day celebration organised by Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) Limited here recently, Sudha while explaining the importance of the Act said some women were misusing it to take revenge on their husbands who refused to come out of joint-family.

        She further said, the introduction of the new Act would speeden-up several pending cases at Family court.

        Speaking on the occasion, Parimala Raju, an entrepreneur stressed on the importance of self confidence and courage among women. Earlier, Manimegalai, a poor woman was given a sewing machine and a souvenir was released at the function.

        NLC Administrative Director P Babu Rao also spoke, a press release said.
