In a bid to enhance its market share in the entry level segment, two-wheeler major TVS Motor Company rolled out a new new variant Star Sport to cater to the needs of the youth who look for a sleek and comfy bike.
K N Radha Krishnan, president, TVS Motor Company, after unveiling the new bike said the company has 10 per cent market share in the two-wheeler market in the country and was targeting to reach 13 per cent by end of this calendar.
He further said the Star Sport would be retailed along with Star City and other basic models of Star brand. 'The bike would come out with a five-year warranty,' he informed. In terms of style, Star Sport possessed a vibrant character when compared to other variants in this category like Star City, while the engine was the same, he said.
The new model comes in different colours with chrome graphics, a sculpted petrol tank flowing into continuous side panels ending with a flush-type tail unit, an updated instrument panel, alloy wheels and for the first time, position lamps in this price segment.
The base version would be available in two colours - red and black. The deluxe version would have fuel gauge and chrome graphics and be available in silver, black and blue. The vehicle is priced at Rs 33,990 for the base version while the deluxe model cost around Rs 35,490.
Speaking on the future plans,
Radha Krishnan said the current year would witness a series of launches
in the Chennai market. The company has plans to come out with a three-wheeler
in August, apart from launching a new 150 cc Apache and an updated Victor
in the executive segment, he added.
