        A plethora of useful guidelines on skill-building and personality development were provided as tips by Employment and Training Special Commissioner Sivakami to students of GSS Jain College for Women at Vepery.

        Insisting upon the students to unearth their hidden talent and work towards developing it, Sivakami asked them to inculcate the habit of reading. She was speaking at a function held on Thursday as part of the National Youth Day celebrations.

        Shedding light on subjects with good career opportunities, she said there was good scope for subjects like oceanography, which many don't ever take up.

        'Students' preference to a subject should be in line with development of their personality while considering at the same time, the prospects for income generation', she said adding that every student should have a passion and start to work in that path to gain success.

        Describing humans as slaves to ideas and situations, Sivagami urged the students to overcome it through every possible means.

        Recalling the words of President Abdul Kalam who encouraged students to dream and make things better, Sivakami said that one must understand the ups and downs in life and have to develop a capacity to face them with a positive attitude to taste success in life.

        Principal of the college M K Malathi and its secretary P Gautham Vaid were among those who were present on the occasion.
