Fake land deal lands man in jail

        A 30-year-old man, who has been accused of selling land using fake documents at Velachery in Chennai, has been arrested by the Chennai Central Crime Branch police personnel.

        According to police, Harshardhan (30) of Kotturpuram reportedly received Rs 50 lakh as advance payment from one Bharath Mehta of Sowcarpet for selling a land at Velachery a few months ago. Even three months after taking the amount, Mehta did not receive any communication. Following a complaint, police arrested Harshardhan. Also, it came to light that the arrested person had cheated a bank by obtaining a loan of Rs 8 lakh by using fake documents, and a sum of Rs one crore by pledging the property of one Salaluddin by using the same.

        Interrogation by police revealed that he was involved in two similar offences and had allegedly duped people of Rs 2 crore, police added.
