Sir
The verdict of the Supreme Court in upholding the expulsion of 11 members of the Parliament for indulging in corrupt practices will be welcomed by the whole nation. The order of the Supreme Court not only upholds the expulsion right of the Parliamentary / Legislative bodies but it also upholds the right of Supreme Court to adjudicate these issues.
The verdict will serve as a warning against corrupt practices of the members of Parliament and legislatures. The citizens in now can boldly expose the corrupt members. Coming closely in the wake of the Supreme Court verdict that no prior permission is required to institute criminal action against members from the Government or the Speaker, the present verdict, will embolden the citizen to come out without fear to combat corrupt practices of members of Parliament and Legislatures - the fountain of corrupt practices.
These verdicts indicates the need to set up a Council for Parliamentary Research to help members to discharge their duties by analyzing the performance of members in their constitutional responsibilities, like framing questions, cut motions etc. I hope the Government of India and State Government will seriously think about this.
