        Pongal will be a memorable period of festivities for those going to Kishkinta this year, as the theme park is once again set to conduct the much- awaited boat race event.

        According to a press release, State Tourism Minister N Suresh Rajan and Rajya Sabha MP K P K Kumaran will participate in the inaugural which will bring backwaters of Kerala alive in Chennai.

        End to end 500 metres long, the rainwater harvested lake in Kishkinta will witness the water sport from 14 to 17 January with 200 participants from Kerala apart from Chennai fishermen and Madras Boat Club members.

        The boats participating in the event included Cherulan, Fishermen boats, Duck boats, White Water kayaks, single and two- seater scull, single and two- seater Kochu Vallam and water scooters, the release added.
