Chennai, Jan 12:
Tamilnadu Congress Committee president M Krishnaswamy today said the UPA government at the Centre would certainly do the needful to the backward communities in the reservation issue.
He also said the Supreme Court ruling that a three- member committee would review the Reservation Bill might cause a problem to the government policy.
In a statement here, Krishnaswamy recalled that the Congress governments in the past had striven hard to protect reservation policies.
Citing examples of the measures
taken by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and former Chief Minister
Kamaraj, the Congress leader said the pitfalls of the apex court's verdict
could be rectified by making necessary corrections in the Constitution
with the support of majority members in Parliament.
