Prime Focus sets up facility in Chennai

        To tap the growing Tamil film industry, Prime Focus, an entertainment technology company, has announced the launch of its fourth India facility in Chennai.

        The company's CEO Bhaarath Sunder, at a press conference here yesterday, said that with an investment of Rs 12 crore, the state-of-the-art post-production facility had been set up on a 5,000 square foot space.

        The South Indian film industry accounts for over 50 per cent of India's film production and this facility would cater to the post-production and visual effect needs of the Chennai market, he added.

        Director-Corporate Development Amit Gupta, in his speech, said, 'the new facilities will enable tapping a larger market for international and domestic post-production and visual effects work'.

        To address the company's growth in the film business, a 55- member team of professionals had been recruited so far and eight projects were currently in the process, Gupta said. He said the company would have their another new facility in Hyderabad in a few months.

        Speaking about the new facility, he said that it has been equipped with high-end Thomson Spirit 4K scanner, DaVinci 2K Plus Colour grader, two autodesk Lustre film grading systems, two autodesk smoke finishing systems, four avid film editing systems and a film recorder.

        Prime Focus has a employee strength of over 750 people (including their London office) and multiple facilities across Mumbai and Chennai. Their full service caters to film-makers, ad film-makers and television producers with latest tools and techniques to refine their work in post-production and production environment.
