In a unique move to bridge the digital divide between the rural and urban areas, the West Bengal government has entered into a Master Service Agreement with SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd, to set up 5,000 common service centres in the rural areas of West Bengal.
The program has been drawn
up under the aegis of the increasingly popular public-private partnership
mode. The agreement was signed between SREI vice president Dr Sabahat Azim
and Hemant Kanoria, vice chairman and managing director and West Bengal
Principal Secretary M N Roy.
