Striking rich is Gold Club of Chennai (GCC), which has come out with 24 carat gold coin.
At a function organised yesterday, Kollywood ariste Sangeetha, the brand ambassador for GCC launched the 24 carat gold coin in the presence of a host of luminaries in the jewellery trade. Tamilnadu Jewellers Federation president Rangantha Gupta received the first 24 carat gold coin from the artiste.
Gold Club of Chennai chairman Anantha Padmanaban, said, '24 carat gold coins are normally sold through institutional sellers like banks. But today GCC has initiated this launch of coins at a denomination of one, two and half, five and ten grams. The main objective is to distribute such coins to give the customers a fully certified product quality and purity, And this would be offered in a tamper proof pack.'
'We are expecting a sales of one tonne gold coins in Tamilnadu during Akshaya Tritaya. There are over 150 retail jewellers as members in Tamilnadu and we have planned to expand the club activities to other States like Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh by this year.'
The coins are equivalent to cash and it can be exchanged at par with any GCC member showrooms across Tamilnadu, Pondicherry and anywhere in India , where 24 carat gold coins are accepted. The coins would be available from 14 April in all GCC member outlets and the pricing is said to be competitive and uniform.
