An exclusive showroom for gold and diamonds, Nathella Anjaneyulu Chetty and Son was launched at Mylapore yesterday.
Its managing director Anantha Padmanaban says, 'The showroom comprises three glittering floors, offering different kinds of jewellery. From 120-year ruby studded Burmese jewellery, Jaipur kundan jewellery, Calcutta antique jewellery, hand-wrought Coimbatore jewellery, richly embellished antique jewellery to newly crafted bridal jewellery this showroom has it all.'
On the recent trends in jewellery, he said, 'With the increase in purchasing power of the customer there is an increase in the demand for variety. This showroom offers a unique bridal wear collection from Rajkot. This collection has heavy and intricate bridal pieces costing around Rs 20 lakh. We have a baby jewellery collection, comprising an array of bangles, hip chain, etc,' he added.
While some of them are original antique pieces, some of the jewels sets have been reproduced and re-designed with original stones. There exclusive pieces on show are the Maanga Maalai, costing around Rs 10 lakh and the Gowri Shankar Mala, costing around Rs 8 lakh.
They also have on offer gold
coins, weighing one, two and a half, five and ten gram each, and a twenty-month
chit fund from Rs 250 to Rs 10,000. As an inaugural and akshaya tritaya
offer, there will be no making charges and special discounts for diamond
jewellery.
