The Tamilnadu Rice Mill Owners' Federation has demanded that the State Government should remove the 1 per cent cess on paddy being procured by the rice mill owners directly from farmers.
According to a press release,
the federation has submitted their demands to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi
which includes increasing the Low Tension (LT) power supply from 150 HP
to 250 HP, not to permit large corporates and multinational companies to
enter into retail industry, to implement the Central Government's order
of green card status to the rice mills and to ban online trading of all
essential food commodities to prevent inflation.
