Teachers have an important role in shaping student's career and they should be strong in their communication skills to convey the message, State Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy has said.
Inaugurating a community project titled 'A Seed for Vision 2020' sponsored by A C College of Technology, Anna University here yesterday, Ponmudy said English is a powerful medium to keep in touch with the rapid advancements taking place world wide.
Hence, spoken English techniques should be taught to the rural students to make them part of the knowledge revolution happening currently, he said.
The Minister said a meeting of College principals and students will be held on 16 April to discuss ways and means to enrich students in communication.
'Realising the importance of quality in various human activities, the Planning Commission has given prime importance to quality in all aspects in the 11th Five Year Plan,' he said.
