HC lifts stay on Dasavatharam

NT Bureau
Chennai, Apr 10:

The Madras High Court today lifted the stay on the release of Kamal Haasan starrer Dasavatharam.

The movie is produced by Oscar Ravichandran featuring Kamal Haasan in ten different roles and is directed by K S Ravikumar.

A couple of months ago, one Senthilkumar from Tambaram had filed a petition seeking a stay on the film claiming that it was his original story.

The court had sought a reply from the actor and Oscar Films in this regard.

In his reply, Kamal had stated that it was a falsehood to say that Dasavatharam is a plagiarized story.

'Dasavatharam is a story which was completely borne out of my imagination and creative thinking', he stated.

Judge Chitra Venkata-raman had adjourned the case then and granted a interim stay on the movie's release.

Today, the case came up for hearing before Judge Ramasubramaniam. Both Kamal Haasan and Senthil Kumar submitted their respective scripts to the Judge.

After a close scrutiny, the Judge announced that they were two different stories without any similarity between them.

He ordered to lift the stay on Dasavatharam's release.
