In reaction to the media reports on irregularities in the tenders for developmental activities under the Kodambakkam zone, Chennai Corporation, Mayor M Subramaniam today cancelled all the tenders called for the projects in that zone.
According to an official release, the tenders called for as many as 28 developmental projects to be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 364.09 lakh, 12 road projects at a cost of Rs 252.09 lakh and 16 maintenance projects at a cost of Rs 112 lakh have been cancelled.
The Mayor has also instructed
officials to conduct an inquiry into the allegations. Tenders would now
have to be dropped in boxes kept in front of chief engineer's office (general),
public relations office and marketing division office and the proceedings
would be recorded on video, added the release.
