'The Central Government has not allocated sufficient quantities of kerosene to Tamilnadu despite repeated representations,' said Minister for Food and Civil Supplies A V Velu.
Replying to PMK MLA M K Periyasamy and Congress MLA Vidiyal Sekar at the question hour in the Assembly session today, Velu said that the state requires as much as 76,000 kilolitres of kerosene to meet with the demand, but the Central Government has provided only 59,852 kilolitres.
Despite several representations, the Union Government had not increased the amount allocated and only after the Chief Minister's appeal had the Central government made a slight increase in the quantity of kerosene supplied, he said.
'New ration card holders
would be provided kerosene, only if the Central Government provides the
required quantity of kerosene', he said.
