        Corporation Mayor M Subramaniam inaugurated an interactive session involving school children and teachers on sex education to make them break the myth and misconception of HIV. The session was organised by the Chennai Corporation AIDS Prevention and Control Society.

        'The objective of the programme is aimed at furnishing correct information on sex education to school children to dispel the misconceptions,' he said.

        With the fund allocated by the Central government on creating awareness on AIDS, the Mayor said the Corporation had set up 41 HIV AIDS Testing Centres and 11 blood banks.

        Two teachers and two students each from the 65 Corporation schools assigned for creating awareness on AIDS have been furnishing information to 18,564 school students, he added.

        Speaking on the occasion, Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni said the students should well be aware of the spread of AIDS and also called for blood tests before marriages.

        Various government officials participated in the session.
