About 25 artists hailing from Cholamandalam Artists Village have joined hands to portray the beauty of art. Inaugurated on 2 March at ARTWORLD, Sarala's Art Centre, a large number of paintings drawn on acrylic, watercolour are on display.
In a telephonic conversation with News Today, Saravanan, one of the artists, said that members of Progressive Painters Association which started in 1948 had been participating in these kinds of shows regularly. He said, ' about 45-46 paintings on acrylic, watercolour, sculptures, metal reliefs are displayed here and some of the colours used are fully imported ones'.
Referring to his team, he said that some of them are new generation people, while others are veterans. He said his father Senathipathi had also displayed some of his works in this exposition.
Some of the works displayed are expression of tribals, tribal women, sceneries. However, the highlight was the work on a man moving around spreading scented smoke in the foreground and a factory in the background.
Anila Jacob, Devan, Douglas, Geetha, Gopinath, Gopal, Haridasan, Harie, Hemalatha, Jacob Jebaraj, Latha, Nandagopal, Nandhan, Paramasivam, Priya, Raju, Richard Jesudass, Saiprashad, Selvaraj, Senathipathi, Shailesh, Umashankar, Vasudev and Venkatapathy are the artists.
