CAPSI Kunwar Vikram Singh at a function held in Chennai on Saturday. |
'Police need more intelligence to curb the rising menace of terrorism and their networks in our peace-loving country,' said chairman of Tamilnadu chapter for the Association of Private Detectives of India V Kulothunga Cholan.
He was speaking on the sidelines of a meeting held in Chennai to inaugurate 'Terrorists Detection and Information Cell' and Security and Detective Training Centre.
Cholan further said, 'lack of monitoring and guiding the youth in their daily activities has resulted in them getting in touch with unscrupulous elements in society'.
He opined that the parents should be more vigilant in observing their children's day to day activities, as it would enforce a psychological barrier around them.
Speaking on the role of the Terrorists Detection and Information Cell, he said, 'As private detectives, we used to gain knowledge of several secrets being shared among the unscrupulous elements of society, with few related to national security. With this cell, now we can share those secrets related to terrorists and their activities with the appropriate agencies like Intelligence Bureau (IB), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and State's own intelligence models.'
On the importance of the Security and Detective Training Centre, Tamilnadu chapter chairman for the Central Association of Private Security Industry (CAPSI) K Chandrasekaran said, 'In the wake of Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act-2005, (coming into force from 15 March this year,) which has made mandatory for the security agencies to employ only those who have passed the prescribed training, we are out to provide the basic training, which is for 45 days and would resemble military-type training'. He also said that in Chennai alone, there would be four such centres.
Chandrasekaran also said the industry he was representing had more than 50 lakh employees, and it would prove to be a vital force if utilised for intelligence gathering, as they were working in most happening places, like commercial complexes, residential apartments, and banks.
During the inaugural ceremony,
State Minister for Social Welfare Poongothai felicitated president of APDI
and CAPSI Kunwar Vikram Singh and one from the board of governors (CAPSI)
R K Sinha. Both have brought laurels to the country by winning international
