MLA refutes Jaya's charges

NT Bureau
Chennai, Jan 8:

Purasawalkam constituency DMK MLA V S Babu has strongly denied the allegation of the former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa that he had barged into ICF police station with henchmen to release on of his supporters, Udayakumar.

'Her repeated statements in this connection are made on some misinformation without trying to find out the facts,' he said. When she accused him in this connection yesterday he had voiced denial. Yet in her another statement last night she had repeated her accusation. 'As claimed by her, I had never been to ICF police station or any other police station and released none', he said.

As a sort of explanation, Babu further said that at Gandhi Nagar Slum Clearance Board Colony in ward 55 under his constituency one Adhikesavan had tried to rent out his house to a person. In that connection his sons Vasudevan and Udayakumar had a scuffle on 21 December at around 10 pm. A DMK worker opposite his house, Raja pacified them.

Enraged over this Vasudevan with goons went to Raja's house and ransacked it. Raja preferred a complaint with the ICF police station in this connection. Meanwhile, Raja brother-in-law Deena questioned Vasudevan and this ended in a fisticuffs. On a complaint of Vasudevan at Ayanavaram police station, Deena was arrested. Later after questioning Deena as to who along with him assaulted Vasudevan and let him off. This is what happened, Babu said in his statement.
