Chennai, Jan 8:
Arun Bharat Ram, chairman, SRF Ltd, has been conferred with the prestigious Jamsetji Tata Award from the Indian Society for Quality (ISQ) for 2006.
The Jamsetji Tata Award is being given every year by ISQ with a purpose to recognise industry leaders who have made singular contribution to the Indian society through their work of leading an organisation with an exceptional focus on quality management with humility, constancy of purpose, determination and setting an example to achieve outstanding results.
'I regard it a honour to be bestowed the Jamsetji Tata Award for the contribution I may have made in promoting quality in our company. This award from Indian Society for Quality is doubly satisfying. It is named after one of the true giants of industrial India. Secondly, the award is for what has been close to my heart for many years and has influenced my action in many ways — quality,' said Bharat Ram, accepting the award.
Bharat Ram joins two doyens — Venu Srinivasan, CMD, TVS Motors, and J J Irani, director, Tata Sons, who have been conferred with Jamsetji Tata Award.
