Chennai, Dec 7:
The State government, in association with NASSCOM, will come up with the best practices to ensure cyber security, said C Chandramouli, secretary of Information Technology Department, Tamilnadu.
He was delivering a speech at the inaugural function of the international conference on 'Information Security and Computer Forensics (ISCF) organised by the SRM University here yesterday.
According to Chandramouli, the manual methods would include protection of physical security and the salient feature of the manual would be a separate section on information technology. It would also help small industries ensure personal security. Incidents of data theft and infringement were few and the police have to be sensitised to these kinds of issues.
He further said the foundation stone for the second tidal park in the city would be laid in the next two to three months and the work would be over within 14 months. The park would have a space of 10 lakh square feet. Same kind of parks would also come up in places such as Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem and Tiruchi.
Speaking on the occasion, V Rao Aiyagari, advisor and head, Department of Science and Technology, Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC), said the Central government had proposed to allocate Rs one lakh crore for cyber security in the 11th Five Year Plan, which is four times more than that of the current plan.
The government was seriously concerned over the scientific manpower and there had been a tremendous decline in the number of students who select basic science as their career. The public and private partnership had a great role in pushing the frontier of science and research.
Earlier, welcoming the gathering, P Sathyanarayanan, Vice-Chancellor, SRM University, said that in this era conferences on information security were quite relevant.
The three-day international
conference would be attended by participants both from India and abroad.
