        The 2nd S K Narasimhan Memorial FIDE-Rated Open Chess tournament gets underway today at the Hall of Chess in Nehru Stadium, here.

        Over 150 players will be taking part in the tournament which includes International Master G B Prakash of Indian Bank, the National Chess Champion of Sri Lanka M K A Russel and many players from Andhra, Delhi, Maharashtra and West Bengal.

        This event is a 11-round swiss with two rounds a day on all days except on Tuesday and Sunday. The prize pool is Rs 37,000 with a first prize of Rs 10,000.

        The event is in memory of S K Narasimhan (1918-1982), who was former secretary of the All India Chess Federation and vice-president of FIDE.
