Betrayal of the poor

        Sir,

The Special Economic Zone scheme which UPA government had initiated and vigorously operated by most of the State governments including West Bengal is surely an anti-farmer and an anti-people scheme. Land is a precious resource. The farmer is attached to his small piece of land economically and emotionally. Taking this asset away from him makes him anchorless. No wonder farmers commit suicides.

The likes of Tatas, Birlas, Reliance, and Mittal et al are becoming world class rich at the cost of the poor. They could directly bargain with those who like to sell their land. But for the governments to become their brokers and acquire thousands and thousands of acres and hand these on a platter to these rich in the name of bringing in development in the States is nothing but a deceit and a sellout of the poor.

Will these industrial barons share their profits? They will again use the 'human capital' for growing richer. At what cost is this 'growth and development?' The biggest betrayers in this whole SEZ policy are the CPI(M).
