        A man was arrested by Vepperi Police for allegedly torturing his wife who unable to bear the physical abuse lodged a complaint at the Police station. Frequent discords between the couple, Thiruvengadam, 36, and Yogalakshmi, 29, living at Choolai, made the wife unhappy, even as she had to endure verbal abuse and physical assault from her husband.

        The couple has a 2-year-old daughter and Yogalakshmi is also carrying for four months. It is reported that during quarrels, the in-laws used to side with husband to further aggravate the situation for Yogalakshmi. Following a complaint by the wife at the Vepperi Police station, Inspector Rajakantham registered a case and following it up with an enquiry. Based on the probe, the Inspector arrested Thiruvengadam.

        Also, the police is further interrogating Saroja and Ramakrishnan, the in-laws of the harassed wife, as part of a detailed probe.
