        TVS Motor Company has recorded sales of 1.03 lakh units of two-wheelers in December 2006 as compared to 1.07 lakh units sold during the same month of 2005.

        The motorcycle sales in December 2006 were at 58,756 units compared to 68,724 units in the same period of 2005. However, for the 9-month period ended December 2006 the motorcycle sales recorded 7.11 lakh units at growth rate of 21 per cent compared to the same period for the fiscal 2005-06. In the next few months, TVS Motors has plans to launch a new motorcycle, which was expected to drive sales in motorcycles.

        In the scooter segment, the company sold 16,616 units in December 2006 as compared to 16,051 units recorded in December 2005. TVS Scooty continues to dominate the ungeared, below 100 cc scooter segment. TVS Motors exported 7,088 units in December 2006, a growth of 17 per cent from those exported in December 2005.
