        Chennai can be trademarked as conventional yet it is far more happening and trendy,' says hair service manager Hyacinth D'Souza of Mumbai-based Wella India Hair Cosmetics India Pvt Ltd. Speaking to reporters recently, she said, 'Chennaiites are a far more disciplined crowd which accepts new trends, as far as hair style is concerned.'

        To improve and offer young hair stylists an opportunity to showcase their potential an annual Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award was instituted by Wella.

        Briefing about the competition, she said, ' this internationally acclaimed competition encourages creativity to promote new talent and discover the next big style in hairdressing. This event offers opportunity to young hair stylist under 30.

        For this year the mega trends are Nordic Serenity, which would explore the beauty of simplicity, Pop Couture is where young, fun, bold colours are used, Rustic Deluxe reconnects with primordial roots, Sensual Intrigue gives a particular style of contemporary sensuality.

        Choosing participants from metropolis like Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and New Delhi. National final would have 16 hairdressers battling it out to get the Wella Professionals Trend Vision India title on 3 September and three winners would be selected.

        The gold medal winner would be trained at Vidal Sassoon, London, while the silver medal winner would be trained at Toni & Guy in Hong Kong and the bronze medal winner would be getting training at Kimage Salon in Singapore.

        The national gold award winning team would be sponsored by Wella to go on a trip to Barcelona, Spain, in November to participate and compete in the International Trend Vision Awards. Participating team can have a hairdresser, an assistant, model and the registration fee charged is Rs 500 and the representating salon should use Wella products.
