Chennai City Police, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary, has lined up a host of events.

As part of the celebrations, Exnora International has come up with the concept of planting saplings at police stations in the city.

At a function held at Commissionerate here on Tuesday, Joint Commissioners of Police M Ravi and Sandeep Rai Rathore planted the saplings.

Speaking on the occasion, Ravi said that by planting saplings, the environment would be clean and green. With Exnora's initiative, the city is turning green and the police station would also get a new look, he said.

Exnora International founder M B Nirmal said the red-coloured walls on police station premises would turn green in future. He requested the police fraternity to continue their good deeds with regard to the environment as it would motivate young minds.

Social activist Mythili Sriram, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ramachandramurthy participated in the celebration.
