Around the world in a gas-driven vehicle

NT Bureau
Chennai, Jan 4:
Going around the world in a petrol-driven vehicle is well nigh impossible because of the cost of fuel. However, the thrill and fun you get through such a world tour is high. Without compromising on the thrill and fun, here is Rainer Zietlow and his team trying to go around the world in a vehicle that runs on compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle.

The ultimate aim of the four-member team is to drive a Volkswagen Caddy Eco Fuel with just 13 litres on this expedition. During the expedition, the team will drive a distance of approximately 45,000 kilometres across five continents covering 75 metropolises in 40 countries across the globe. However, the tour is scheduled to get over by 13 April 2007, the press day at the AMI Trade Fair in Leipzig, Germany.

In addition, the team for every driven kilometre will make a donation of 10 cents to the SOS Children's Village in Kathmandu, Nepal, as a noble gesture.
