        An undertrial who managed to give police escorts the slip while being taken to Puzhal prison was re-arrested early this morning.

        Police said Chandrasekaran and Venkatesan, two prisoners in connection with a case registered with the Pulianthope police station were taken to Egmore court yesterday. After the hearing they were escorted to Puzhal in an auto.

        They stopped at Madhavaram on the way to get the prisoners some food. One policeman was holding Chandrasekaran's hand while Venkatesan was asked to follow but he used the opportunity and made good his escape.

        Immediately the police sounded an alert. And this morning when the prisoner was in hiding in a house at Madhavaram, he was surrounded by the police and was caught.
