JOIE DE VIVRE

Every day is fun at the ongoing Chennai Open, moreso
for the fans. Tennis-lovers enjoyed though the big guns, barring Spaniard Carlos Moya, had an 'off-day'. Thai
star Paradorn Srichaphan, hugely popular among the spectators, took time off to spend time with the cheer
girls while some of the players preferred to watch proceedings on the outside courts on a night when
the moon came out in all its splendour.

POLICE STORY

It is always nice to jog down the memory avenue.
The exhibition, on at the Rajarathinam stadium, showcases the path that the city police have taken so far in their 150 years of eventful existence. On the left is what most police stations look like. On the right is what they were some decades back.
Though police stations have changed beyond recognition, the work of the police remains the same — to hunt down the criminals and ensure law and order.
The methods have metamorphosed. But the essential minutiae seem frozen on time.

FOR WHOM?: Before the new Koyambedu Bus Terminus came up, this bus-stop
opposite to the terminus on the 100 Feet Road was in use. Later on, the shelter fell
into disuse. Yet, it stands out at this long abandoned spot.
