To enlighten first year students of Information Technology on the several opportunities available in the industry, Rajalakshmi College of Engineering, Thandalam, in association with Computer Society of India (CSI), a body of computer professionals opportunities, will organise a three-day national symposium on 'Preparing IT professionals for 2010 -a road map.'
The symposium, which would be held at Tidel Park in Chennai from 8 to 10 March, would feature paper presentations, debate, quiz, panel discussion, case study and series of guest lectures by eminent personalities from the IT industry.
Briefing reporters here yesterday, Dean (CSE and IT) of Rajalakshmi Engineering College V N Srinivasan said the meet would create a network among the students across the country for the knowledge- sharing group and sensitise students to job opportunities.
Principal of Rajalakshmi Engineering College K Sarukesi said the symposium would provide a platform for the students to express their thoughts, concepts, application proposals on any one of the topics such as IT for national development or IT for industry. Around 500 students pursuing BE (CSE), BTech(IT) and MCA were expected to participate in it.
Chairperson of Rajalakshmi Engineering College Thangam Meganathan said there was a gap between the graduates produced by the institutions and their capability to adapt readily to the needs of the industry. So, the focus would be on providing industrial visits, in- plant training and arranging guest lectures for the students.
