        A hotel owner was killed on the spot after he was run over by a speeding lorry here.

        Police said that when Kesavan (42) of Valajabath here, was proceeding towards Tambaram on his bike to buy rice, a sand-laden lorry coming in the opposite direction hit him near Panruti Kandigai, killing him on the spot. Manimangalam police registered a case. The body has been sent to Chengalpattu Government Hospital for postmortem. Police are on the lookout for the lorry driver, who fled the scene.
