A labourer was killed yesterday when the wall of an old house in Foreshore Estate collapsed on him. Three others sustained injuries.
The accident occurred when demolition of the building on 7th Trust Cross Street in Foreshore Estate was undertaken last evening. Ponnusamy (56) of M N Nagar in Island Grounds, Murugan, Chinnaiah and Raja, who were all engaged in the bringing down the house were grievously injured and admitted to Government Hospital at Royapettah.
While Ponnusamy succumbed to injuries, the three are undergoing treatment. Foreshore Estate police rushed to the spot and conducted an enquiry.
It was concluded that supervisor
Balasubramaniam's negligence had caused the mishap, so the police took
him into custody.
