Chennai, July 3:
Tamilnadu government today decided to procure 30 lakh colour television sets for the third phase of Free CTVs distribution Scheme through international open competitive bidding.
An official press release said the Committee of Legislators comprising representatives of political parties represented in the Legislative Assembly headed by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to ensure transparency in procurement and distribution met at Secretariat.
The committee has decided to call for international bidding in August and to finalise the bidder by September for the Free CTVs scheme for the 2007-08. And also to follow the same technical requirement for this time around.
The release further said the committee had resolved to complete the distribution of 25 lakh CTVs procured under the second phase of the scheme by November. Of 12, 18, 897 CTVs distributed to the districts, only 10,16,940 sets were handed over to the beneficiaries.
