Hunt for the best music band begins

Music buffs in large numbers thronged German Hall recently for auditions of the regional rounds of Mirinda Ooh lalala 2007, organised by Saregama in association with Sun TV. More than 30 bands participated in the audition and the performance was judged by Paul Jacob, one of Chennai's noted instrumentalists, who formed the band Nemesis Avenue along with music directors Suresh Peters and A R Rahman.

The talent hunt has been initiated in Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh and would soon be launched nationally across the country.

Music director A R Rahman will judge the bands in the final round of Mirinda Ooh lalala 2007. The winning band will get an opportunity to perform live at the mega ceremony to be organised by Saregama to commemorate 100 years of its association with Indian Music and will also get an opportunity to design its own Music album with HMV-Saregama.

Prasanna of Saregama said, 'the audition for the competition took place in Tiruchi, Madurai, Thirunelveli, Salem and Coimbatore. 'Over 100 bands competed so far. Of which 18 bands will be selected and then six for quarter finals and two for semi finals and from which one would be selected'.

One of the participants at the audition said, the talent hunt would provide us a great platform to showcase our skills. 'The talent show is about searching the best music group, not only singing talent, but complete music performance on stage. The band can have their own style', said its director P Kannan. A series of episodes will be aired on Sun TV from the last week of July.
