AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Kanihaa steals the thunder

Varalaru is the best thing that could have happened to Kanihaa. In a cameo, she almost stole the thunder from Ajith in that classical bharatanatyam act. The climax was the crux of the movie-Ajith and Kanihaa coming up with a spectacle long enough to be etched in the minds of the audience for a long time.

The good run of the movie has augured well for the engineering graduate, her intrinsic classical skills winning the connoisseur's vote.

The happy tidings for Kanihaa is in a rush of offers, good enough to speculate and pick the better ones. Breathing a lot easier with that Varalaru success, Kanihaa acceded that she had her apprehension to do a role which travels beyond time, culminating in old age.

'Director K S Ravikumar instilled the confidence that the film's progress centred mainly on my character. Alongside was Ajith, who was my benefactor and whose experience guided me through.

More of a challenge to carry off such a role. Thankfully, hit it off well with an amazing co-star like Ajith and a director who gave the freedom to improvise.'

Musing the near misses - in the midst of her final year the former Miss Chennai had the offer to be part of the Boys team from director Shankar - Five Star happened not long after.

Throwing her weight in the slice of cake meant offers from the likes of P C Sriram and Cheran.

'My dream was happening but there was the small matter of going through my final semester.'

Once that degree in her custody, Kanihaa was in the right frame to be focused. On a roll she was, doing remakes of Tamil hits Dhalapathi and Dil in Kannada. Playing an obedient Brahmin character in Edhiri was right down her street.

Enjoying a fair degree of success in Telugu - glamour and village characters finding the balance-Kanihaa's wonder eyes cast a spell there.

There had never been a question mark of her abilities. Surprised she is at her fan following following the Thanga Vettai in a popular satellite channel. 'With your talents, you have ought to have done better' is the unending poser.

Waiting for the answers and the right breaks is one of the stars which emerged out of the five in that lung opener.
