'Drama can bring in thoughts which would influence the necessary societal changes suited for situations', MDMK general secretary Vaiko has said.
Presiding over the Nataga Priya's 5007th Drama Festival, '100 minutes-200 jokes', at Kamarajar Arangam, here, on Monday, Vaiko said that Nadagam, being one of the pristine heights of art of entertainment of Tamilnadu, had the potential to relieve the audience from sorrows since they have been going through trials and tribulations daily.
Remembering the legendary playwrights right from Vishwanatha Das to Arignar Anna for making remarkable societal changes, Vaiko felt that the dramatic performances of S Ve Shekher would go a long way in that direction.
Speaking on the occasion, Thuglak Editor, Cho praised S Ve Shekher for not only his humourous script but also delivering timely jokes. He also commended Vaiko's extraordinary oratorical talents and in-depth historical knowledge.
Earlier, S Ve Shekher, while welcoming the gathering, said it was Cho's drama sequences of political sarcasm that made him follow suit.
He also disclosed his association with other social services like educational assistances to 40 students, tricycles for physically handicapped, blood donation camps and performing free eye operations.
Being grateful to former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for granting 50 per cent concession for artistes to travel in government buses, S Ve Shekher said that 50 per cent reduction in renting the Kalaivanar Arangam for dramas was also done during her tenure.
Later, Vaiko distributed prizes to the artistes belonging to 'Nadaga Priya'.
