        MDMK general secretary Vaiko has appealed the Central government to deploy the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and paramilitary forces to protect the Mullaiperiyar dam, a party release here said today.

        The MDMK leader in his message to the Prime Minister said, 'there is a genuine apprehension that the conspirators would resort to abominable activities to damage and destroy the Mullaiperiyar dam,' and appealed that the Union government deploy its forces to protect the dam, the release added.
