Mega exposition at Annamalai varsity

        A mega exhibition titled Planet Earth was kicked off today as part of the 94th Indian Science Congress (3 - 7 Jan) at Annamalai University.

        The exhibition is showcasing the best in public and private sector organisations, research labs, government agencies and departments and many institutions across India. The Department of Science and Technology is focusing on the theme of The Cradle of our Existence. The display of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) includes a full-scale model of the Bramhos Missile and another 30 models of their products built with indigenous designs. While the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has displayed many satellites and rocket models.

        Petroleum Conservation and Research Association (PCRA) is taking up fuel conservation in a big way through exhibits and demonstrations.

        Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and Chennai Petroleum Corporation (CPCL) have all gathered in strength at the exhibition with a pointed them of energy conservation.

        Government institutions like Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publication (DAVP) and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) have also put up stalls to explain to the public their array of services.

        Nearly 20 innovative entrepreneurs in the fields of agriculture, biotechnology, energy conservation and mechanical engineering are camping at the exhibition to showcase their new products.

        The stall put up by Puducherry government exhibits their culture and tradition. Gujarat and Haryana have portrayed their strength in science and technology through elaborate stalls. The departments such as BSNL, KVIC, C-DAC and Coir Board have also displayed their services and products in an attractive manner.
