Members of Prahlad CA 'A' team, winners of the Prahlad Under-12 cricket tournament in Chennai yesterday.

        Close on the heels of winning the under-11 tournament, Prahlad CA 'A' won the Prahlad Under-12 trophy, defeating Kedar CA by 8 wickets at the SPIC-YMCA grounds here yesterday.

        Batting first, Kedar CA could manage only 125 in the allotted 30 overs losing nine wickets. M S Suraj, S Prasanna and A Arun Aanand took three wickets apiece for Prahlad while Adithya Giridhar scored 29 for Kedar CA. Though Kedar CA bowled and fielded sharply, opener M Adithyan stood firm like a rock, playing some scintillating shots and saw the host Prahlad CA home. He remained unbeaten on 63 to bag the Man of the Match award and was ably supported by Suraj, who made 30. The trophies were given away by K N Ananthapadmanabhan, former India 'A' player and Rajesh of Davey Brothers, distributors of Reebok. M/s Havell Industries Ltd sponsored some special awards.

        The following awards were presented — Best Allrounder: M S Suraj; Best Batsman: K Mukunth of Prahlad CA 'A'; Best Bowler: Raghav Viswanath of FSCA; Player of the Tournament: M Adhityan. Special award by Reebok for only century maker in tournament: Adithyan.

        Youngest player of tournament: Sai Prasad of Prahlad CA 'A' ( 7 years) Promising cricketers: R Aakash (Prahlad CA 'B'); Ram Ramesh (Kedar CA); S M Aravind (Prahlad CA 'A'); Adithya Giridhar (Kedar CA).

        Scores (final): Kedar CA 125 for 9 in 30 overs (Adithya Giridhar 29, M S Suraj 3 for 19, A Arun Aanand 3 for 26, S Prasanna 3 for 23) lost to Prahlad CA 'A' 126 for 2 in 28.4 overs (M Adithyan 63 n.o, M S Suraj 30). MoM: Adithyan.
