        Cleaning of temples is a sacred act and it should be done on a mass scale, Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswathi has said.

        Speaking at the second anniversary celebrations of the Loka Dharma Seva Foundation Trust here yesterday, he said spiritual discourses should be conducted regularly to enlighten the people regarding the various nuances of ancient Indian culture and heritage.

        Efforts should be made to preserve our ancient traditions by encouraging the younger generation to take up the finer aspects of spirituality, he said.

        'There has been various misconceptions regarding certain principles in Hinduism and this should be removed by conducting regular seminars, lectures and spiritual discourses,' C S Mehta, a member of the Loka Dharma Seva Foundation Trust said.

        The audience who were present on the occasion felt that it was high time that youth residing in rural areas were given better education. This would create an ideal ambience for them to learn the science of spirituality, they said.
