Essar Shipping to acquire modern carriers

        Essar Shipping & Logistics Ltd (ESSL) has placed an order with ABG Shipyard Ltd India for acquisition of six modern new building geared Supramax Bulk carriers. The vessels will be built at an estimated cost of $35 million each and will be delivered between December 2009 and March 2011. ESLL is part of Essar Global Ltd. The acquisition has been made keeping in view, the increased demand for larger size vessels in the handymax segment of the dry bulk trade. These vessels will be in high demand over the coming years considering the fact the entire handymax segment is inching towards larger tonnage. With its considerable experience and excellent track record of operating ships globally, Essar will deploy these vessels in global trade.

ING Vysya Bank's promotional campaign

        As a part of its promotion campaign, ING Vysya Bank has launched a contest for customers. The 'Sign to Dine with Ricky Ponting' campaign is open upto 10 October. Aspirants can walk in to the nearest ING Vysya Bank branch anywhere in the country and open a new Savings Bank or Current Account and get a miniature cricket bat, duly autographed by Ricky Ponting, absolutely free, as a gift. Additionally, the customer can participate in a slogan writing contest. The bank would choose the best of ten entries and the contributors of the selected slogans would be invited to dine with Ricky Ponting.

Satyam wins Asian CSR award

        Satyam Computer Services Ltd announced that it has won the Asian Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award under poverty alleviation category. Satyam was honoured for its GramIT (rural BPO) programme,a key initiative of the Byrraju Foundation, an NGO founded by Satyam chairman and founder B Ramalinga Raju. The Byrraju Foundation is dedicated to rural transformation and has significantly enhanced the quality of life of over 2 million people in 180 villages in Andhra Pradesh by offering high quality services such as healthcare, education, livelihood, sanitation and drinking water. Satyam representative Harsh Vardhan received the award at a function in Vietnam recently.

Tata consolidates its tea brand

        Tata Tea has combined its four brands—Tata Tea Premium, Tata Tea Gold, Tata Tea Agni and Tata Tea Life - into one as Tata Tea. This consolidation and unification of the four brands is aimed at communicating to the consumer a single, unified message in terms of emotional connect. The company launched its new campaign Jaag Re yesterday. Spanning the length and breadth of the country, Tata Tea is poised to take a quantum leap in terms of growth, relevance and appeal to consumers. In the last several years, the brand has been consistenly delivering double digit growth in a market that is growing by 3-4 per cent every year.

TVS launches capital funds
